Day 7: flip your camera
Yesterday we moved our bodies - today we are going to move our cameras. If you are taking photos with an iPhone, iPad, or another device that is not a typical camera this lesson is for you.
If you are using a typical camera, you can still read this lesson and try it if your mom or dad will let you experiment with their phone.
Most phones and tablets have cameras at the top corner. When we take photos with them, we typically hold the phone or tablet with the camera at the top. Today we are going to change it up!
If you turn your phone camera or tablet camera upside down, you can get a fun new angle - a lot like when you moved your body around yesterday.
Here are a few examples of how your picture will change when you flip your camera. On the left is a picture holding the camera normal. One the right is the same subject, but with the camera flipped:
NORMAL CAMERA FLIPPED
Pets are really fun to photograph with your camera flipped over. They seem a lot bigger when you take pictures of them this way!
One thing to pay attention to when you flip your phone or tablet is where you focus. Your camera might not want to focus on what you wanting to photograph. See the pictures below - one is in focus and one is a bit blurry. It is easy to fix this by just tapping where you want the camera to focus (like we talked about on Day 1):
TODAY'S TASK
Flip your phone or tablet! Place an object on a table or the ground and get close to that object. Take one photo with the camera on at the top (tablet right side up) and then flip your tablet/phone upside down and take the shot again. Be sure to tap the screen to focus on the same object in each photo.
